The company

Our client is a global leading high tech company in the field of medical devices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of technology research and product development processes, procedures and best practices
  • Foster and maintain an environment conducive to the high-quality applied R&D engineering needed to support and advance the company‘s technology and product development objectives
  • Accountable for the attainment of current and long-range objectives, and for developing annual plans, objectives and measures to ensure R&D team executes to strategy
  • Plan/forecast resource and budgetary requirements for the R&D team while providing the necessary information to Finance and Sales & Marketing for prioritization and decision-making
  • Understand the company‘s advanced spatial measurement technology, potential markets for these products, customer needs, and competitive forces
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are being met and expectations exceeded while facilitating interdepartmental collaboration, communications and the sharing of best practices within the company
  • Lead, train and coach R&D team personnel and maintain an effective and productive work environment, while acting as a positive role model/mentor and taking an active role in employment matters to preserve and enhance employee relations

Candidate Profile

 

Education and Experience

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a related field
  • Relevant R&D experience in technology areas, embedded software development or hardware design engineering
  • Strong structured thinking and leadership capability, ability to build a high-performance team by motivating and inspire his/her direct reports
  • Good experience in modern project management methods, specially agile development
  • Several years of senior level management experience with an in-depth understanding of corporate strategic planning and the ability to develop, implement and direct company-wide initiatives

 

Functional / Specific Competencies

  • Proven experience in a Medical Device Development setting is preferred
  • Effective communicator at all levels of the organization and comfortable within a multidisciplinary organizational environment
